CLINTON C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL
Little Otters Clinton Pre School
We are a team of experienced Early Years qualified staff who can offer a fully equipped and spacious setting for young children. We are based inside the Clinton Primary School in which we have a range of indoor and outdoor spaces where our children can play, learn and have fun.

Our aims at Little Otters are to ensure children are safe and happy in a play based environment, in which they can learn to socialise, gain independence and learn new skills to provide the foundations for good future progress throughout school and life. We recognise that when your child comes here he/she has already learnt a lot from you at home. We want to build on what your child knows and can do, continually taking them further on to the next stage of learning.

We strongly believe that your child's education is a partnership between home and Little Otters and therefore parents are always welcome to come and see us.

What will children do during a Pre School session?

Your child will take part in a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors. Your child will learn through activities he or she has chosen, or from those that are led by an adult. Children in the Early Years learn through play based activities that are fun and enjoyable. These activities are supported by caring adults who will work closely with you to ensure your child makes progress. We keep careful progress records for each child that are linked to the Development Matters Framework. Parents are actively encouraged to contribute to their child's learning journals.

We set up a range of learning activities some of which include; Role Play, Messy Play, Ride on, Small Word Play, Music and Dance, Song and Rhyme, Story Time.

What should children wear to a session?

We ask that you dress your child in practical clothes that they can play and paint in with fastenings that are easy to manage. A Little Otters sweatshirt can be purchased for £7.50 from Instant Images in Torrington or ask us to and we will get one for you.

We like Children to have constant access to outdoor provision and learning in all weather conditions, as such we request that during winter months children wear warm clothing and bring a waterproof jacket. In the summer please ensure your child wears sunscreen to Preschool each day.

We do have some spare clothes in school in the event of "accidents" and if your child does bring home clothing please wash and return as soon as possible. We are always grateful for donations of clothing, underwear, wellingtons etc that have been outgrown.
